Many of us in this politically correct world are trained to believe that anger is a negative emotion. It is something to be denied or at least suppressed or ignored. We were taught to hide it from others and worst still, from ourselves.
Anger is seen to be a weakness and in some respects that could be correct. Consider the two perspectives of anger, the one that is reactive to outside sources and the other a considered expression of repulsion.
Let’s consider the outside/in anger phenomena. You will hear this being expressed all day and yes, maybe even coming from your own mouth.
“They made me angry” is a classic outside/in expression that puts the onus for the anger squarely on someone/thing else. This viewpoint is seeing anger as an effect, instead of examining the cause or the meaningful message that it may carry.
We’re taught to suppress, ignore, hide, or channel it. Sometimes we come up with elaborate and sometimes self destructive coping mechanisms. We’ve been taught about anger from the perspective of surface information – like the iceberg, you don’t have the complete picture.
No one/thing/event or anything else can make you angry!
How do you find out what’s really going on? How do you get the FULL picture of it?
The Inside /out approach.
What if it (anger) held the seed of tremendous power?
What if we approached emotions in general as e-motion or energy in motion?
What if our bodies, in their immense intelligence, were trying to stir us into awareness and that ‘awareness’ was information about your passion?
What if an emotion of anger is an expression of intense caring?
One of the quickest ways to gain access to this knowing is through your body, it has access to information that you might not be consciously aware of yet.
The KNOWING that I speak of is not the intellect. It is a matter of the heart.
You’re not just tiny specks of matter, being tossed in the sea of your emotions.
You’re actually vast energies of consciousness and creation.
Your heart is the driver of your passion and the conductor of your Quadrant 1 part of your brain.
Beneath the anger you will find the pure love of your heart – go ahead and hold your heart right now. Feel the resonance, feel the wisdom, feel the love.
So, now think of something that you can get angry about and let it rise to the surface. Now connect it to your heart, hold your heart and ask your heart for the way forward.
Awareness happens in a simple heart-beat and with it comes all that you want to know, do or be.
The simple exercise of breathing, relaxing and expanding your heart based energy field will connect you to this space.
Suppose that anger, as well as any other emotion, is energy in motion. That it’s our body’s innate intelligence telling us that something new is stirring.
The Transformative Power of Anger is immense. You wouldn’t be angry if you didn’t care deeply about something or someone. So, connect it to your heart and feel the anger subside and watch the transformation begin.
