As we spoke about last week, it doesn’t take swinging from a trapeze or jumping off a cliff to make transformational leaps in your life. You have opportunities to do every second of the day – every day.
I suggest that there are four essential life principles within the in8model® which help to align your perspective and inspire profound transformation.
This week I wanted to visit the importance of trusting the benevolent intent of people.
There are plenty of reasons why you shouldn’t trust other people. There is evidence that you should be suspicious of their intentions and their ethics. The media is constantly feeding you messages that people can’t be trusted and the way society operates is that it always caters for the lowest common denominator.
One of the workings of life seems to be that when you believe it is so – it turns out to be so. In this conversation it seems like the more you distrust people the more they will prove to be untrustworthy. Fortunately the converse is true.
In trusting the benevolent intent of people you are opening yourself to the highest motive in all people and in all life and supporting the flow of this highest intention towards its ultimate expression.
In so doing, the action is performed without judgement, analysis, or attachment to outcome. It involves simply nurturing the highest energy that flows from all people and all beings, and thus supporting their fullest expression of life.
I’m not saying that you should be stupidly naïve about this. It’s not about total blind trust but it is about reasoned trust and definitely about earned and deserved trust.
Know that people do the best they can with the information they have. People do have the highest intent even though at times their behaviours can be quite bizarre.
This week, notice where and in which situations you are holding up a shield of distrust. Consider where you may like to drop it a little and let another person demonstrate their true inner self.
You may just see their benevolent intent.
