Values – where they help or harm you.
Last week I left you with the suggestion that you cannot NOT be in Integrity.
I posed the question; “Is your current expression of your integrity what you want”? “Would you like it to be giving you something more or less, something different or something better”?
I trust that you have considered this question over the week and have done an audit on what you are “Being”. You may have identified and decide on the additions and deletions that you would like to have so let’s look at how those come into being in the first place and then how they could be redesigned, re-engineered or re-allocated.
Let’s ponder an understanding of the drivers of your “State of Being”.
Every behavior stems from a values hierarchy. That is a series of values in a specific order that are arranged in a given context and fired off in the Quadrant of your brain making you do things in a certain way.
For example; You could have a high value around order and in most situations your brain fires this program off in what we know as the Quadrant 2 part so that you can get things done efficiently and your life runs like a well oiled machine.
This behavior is driven by your values which my have arisen from any number of circumstances that your life presented you up to now. For example, it may have been a time when a family member was been particularly disorganized and it affected your life to the degree that you made a resolve not to be like that.
This value of order may serve you well in many areas and you may be very happy to have it and leave it as it is.
It also may affect you detrimentally. If it is too strong it can make you resent people for coming in and disturbing the impeccable order that you have created in your life. This would produce a barrier to having lots of friends flooding into your life as they would just mess things up.
This situation could have numerous outcomes such as a low flow of people to serve, low income and low ability to have an effect on humanity – not too useful I suggest.
There is often a tendency to apportion the blame on these negative outcomes to outside causes such as people, the public, the economy or the location of your business.
I suggest that the source of most situations sits fare and square with the ‘reality’ that you have about the world.
